An end of year employee engagement experience in the countryside

Members of Sledge and SWM Partners' leadership looked to three members of the group's team across varying seniority levels to plan and manage their annual Christmas party. The aim was to energise employees, thank them for their efforts throughout the year, and develop a unique experience that was unlike any other this group of experienced event professionals had seen before.

  • Sourced a unique venue in Port Lympne Hotel & Reserve in Kent, whose focus on animal conservation and returning endangered animals back into the wild mirror the company's values of doing good.
  • Oversaw the allocation of accommodation in treehouses and log cabins, which were located throughout the site and gave guests a unique overnight experience, where they were situated in close proximity to various animals.
  • Ideated a range of educational and inspiring activities, including animal feeding encounters and a safari experience, wreath making, and sparkling wine tasting.
  • Collaborated with the venue to plan and manage an evening drinks reception and canapés, followed by dinner.
  • Developed an employee-focused quiz, which was led by a charismatic host and enjoyed over dinner, in a move designed to boost morale, and inject additional fun and energy into the evening.
  • Selected and managed key suppliers based on their green credentials.
  • Developed a bespoke playlist and sourced and briefed live musicians, who performed during the drinks reception, and once dinner had concluded.
