Storytelling through the TEDx architecture
An independently-organised TEDx event hosted by campaigner and human rights activist, Meltem Avcil.
We first worked with Meltem at the TEDxTeen event we organised in 2016 for We Are Family Foundation (WAFF). She captivated the audience with her bravery, speaking about her experiences as a former refugee and child-detainee. This year she launched her own event, with the intention of sharing inspiring stories around the theme of 'Transformed', which we were proud to support.

Our creative strategy
This event needed to embody the well-renowned TEDx design; to achieve the ambience and design for this we created an intimate setting where stories would reach the audience. 3D lettering for the stage, the famous red carpet and distinct lighting states built a sleek backdrop for the event.
A key part of the event focused on sharing these stories post-event; high-quality video editing with a bespoke intro sting was carried out to share all stories on the TEDx YouTube feed.
-
Production value
Our client was focused on amplifying important stories to a live audience; our role was to take any production pressures away from her, which we managed by providing speaker support, logistics management and video production.
Our expertise in film production ensured high-quality and efficient camera equipment was used, and during post-production we added graphics, designed title slides and a bespoke animated intro sting to deliver quality edits in line with TED’s guidelines.
-
Challenges and solutions
Independently organised meant the budget was minimal. As well as offering our services pro-bono, we sourced additional support from some of our trusted suppliers to secure the best deals.
A short set-up time of 2.5 hours meant careful planning was required. Clear roles were allocated, and tasks divided evenly between the onsite team to ensure all deadlines were achieved. Speaker rehearsals were coordinated alongside room set up and technical checks.
-
Sustainability goals
Knowing this event might be carried out again in the future, any bespoke items were designed and created for reuse.
By utilising our expertise, we were able to help share 10 incredibly inspiring stories that are now being amplified through the TEDx network and beyond, with the aim of bringing positive change to the world.
